Face of the Day: Katy Perry

I don't know if any of you noticed Katy's gorgeous makeup that she wore to the 2011 Grammy Awards last week, but I sure did! Her Armani angel wings and glitter encrusted bra may have diverted your attention away from her electrifying makeup look. Her eyes really stood out and combined a sparkly mix of purple and green shadows with a huge dose of glitter. Here are some options for achieving the look on your own!

One of my favourite brands for highly pigmented and brightly colored eye shadows is Urban Decay. Recently, Urban Decay released it's third Book of Shadows NYC edition. The book holds 16 eye shadows, 2 eye liners and a mini Primer Potion. It's perfect if you're really into bright eye looks and want a lot of variety in color.

For Katy's look I recommend swiping Psychedelic Sister all over your lid up until the crease. The color is a bright purple with lots of shimmer.

Next, take Kush, a bright emerald green, and trace your lower lash line with the color.

For extra sparkle I love Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liners. Trace the liner on your upper lash line. You can use pretty much any sparkly color you like. My favourite is Distortion.

Apply lots of black mascara to your upper and lower lashes and you're done! For extra drama, put on false lashes.
